Welcome to the Aeolian Islands Fishing and Sustainable Taste Web Application. This WebApp, in two languages, Italian and English, allows you both to learn about the history of fishing in the Aeolian Islands, also through the stories and memories of fishermen, and to discover the fish, from the best known to the lesser known and “poorer”, found in the Aeolian Archipelago .
Each fish is linked to recipes (some of which originated in the Aeolian Islands) with photos and/or videos that allow it to be prepared in the best possible way and to enhance the less “noble” ones, emphasising both the sustainability of fishing and the value of the less prized catch, but no less good or less valuable for that matter, in terms of both taste and nutritional quality. The webapp allows any new element to be added. So anyone with recipes or who knows of other types of fish found in the Aeolian Islands that are missing and would like to be included, send text and photos or video to info@eolnet.it
The web app “Sustainable Fishing and Taste in the Aeolian Islands pescagustosostenibileeolie.it” is created as part of the project funded “Aeolian Islands: Fishing with a Sustainable Taste,” pursuant to the public notice approved with DDG no. 432 of 31/10/2024 (Intervention Code 222402 (2-2024)) by the Department of Mediterranean Fisheries of the Sicilian Region CIG:B8CB137A34. This web app, available in both Italian and English, allows you to learn about the history of fishing in the Aeolian Islands, through the stories and memories of fishermen, and to discover the fish, from the most famous to the lesser-known and "poorer" ones that are present in the archipelago. Each fish is accompanied by recipes (some originating in the Aeolian Islands and some available in videos) that allow you to make the most of them and highlight the lesser-known but high-quality ones, highlighting both the sustainability of fishing and the nutritional value of lesser-quality fish, which are no less delicious or valuable as a food. The app is open to new recipes (even videos). If you have recipes or fish to add, please send text and photos to info@eolnet.it.
